📝 Ingredients

(Serves 2)


  • Seitan: 2 portions (about 6–7 oz / 180–200 g total)

  • Tamari or soy sauce: 1 teaspoon

  • Paprika: 1 teaspoon

  • Smoke powder (or smoked paprika): 1 teaspoon

  • Cornstarch: 1 teaspoon

  • Olive oil: As needed

  • Cold water: For dissolving cornstarch


👨‍🍳 Instructions


  1. Boil the seitan

    • In a saucepan, bring water to a boil and add the seitan along with a splash of tamari.

    • Cook for 10 minutes or until tender.

  2. Drain and shred

    • Strain and let the seitan cool slightly.

    • Squeeze out excess water with your hands.

    • Shred the seitan into strips or small pieces.

  3. Season

    • In a bowl, mix olive oil, paprika, and smoke powder.

    • Coat the shredded seitan in the mixture.

  4. Sauté

    • Heat a frying pan with a little olive oil.

    • Sauté the seasoned seitan until golden brown.

  5. Add the sauce

    • Dissolve cornstarch in a small amount of cold water.

    • Pour it into the pan and stir well.

    • Let it simmer for a few minutes until the sauce thickens.


🍽️ Serving Ideas

  • Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or in a sandwich.

  • Pairs well with roasted vegetables or a crisp salad.
