Creamy, tangy, and full of umami, this Roquefort-Style Sauce delivers all the depth and punch of traditional blue cheese—but it’s completely plant-based. Made with almonds, nutritional yeast, and a touch of lemon and garlic, it’s the perfect accompaniment for salads, veggie burgers, roasted vegetables, or as a rich dip.
Whether you're dairy-free or just curious, this sauce is an indulgent way to elevate any dish with complex, cheesy flavour—without the cheese.
Kitchen Tools
Hand blender or food processor
Ingredients
1/2 cup almonds (preferably soaked if not using blanched)
2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
1 tablespoon garlic (minced or chopped)
5 drops sriracha (optional, for depth)
Juice of 1 lemon
1 tablespoon cheese-flavored seasoning (vegan if needed)
2–4 tablespoons water (adjust for desired consistency)
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Blend the base: Add the almonds, nutritional yeast, garlic, sriracha, lemon juice, cheese seasoning, and 2 tablespoons of water to your blender or food processor.
Adjust texture: Blend until smooth and creamy, stopping to scrape down the sides. Add more water gradually if needed until you reach your preferred consistency.
Chill and store: Transfer the sauce to a lidded container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavours to meld.
Serving Ideas
Spoon over salads as a bold, creamy dressing
Serve with roasted potatoes or steamed broccoli
Use as a dip for crudités or crackers
