Bright, fluffy, and naturally sweet—this orange sobao cake is a perfect breakfast or teatime companion.

With real orange (peel included!) and the goodness of oat flour and protein powder, this cake packs a flavorful punch while staying light and nutritious. Made effortlessly in the air fryer, it's a modern take on a classic treat.

Kitchen Tools

  • Air fryer

  • Hand blender

  • Loaf pan or muffin molds

Ingredients

  • 40 g oat flour (approx. 1.5 oz)

  • 30 g protein powder (approx. 1 oz)

  • 2 g baking powder (approx. 1/2 tsp)

  • 1/2 orange (with peel)

  • 10 ml olive oil (approx. 2 tsp)

  • Optional: sweetener of your choice

Instructions

  1. Blend the citrus base: In a mixing container, add half an orange (with the peel) and the olive oil. If you'd like it sweeter, add your preferred sweetener. Blend thoroughly using a hand blender until smooth.

  2. Add dry ingredients: Incorporate the oat flour, protein powder, and baking powder. Stir or blend again until a uniform batter forms.

  3. Prepare your mold: Lightly grease your loaf pan or muffin molds and pour in the batter.

  4. Bake in air fryer: Place the mold in the air fryer and cook at 175°C (350°F) for 10 minutes.

  5. Cool and serve: Let the cake rest at room temperature before serving. The citrus aroma and moist texture will win you over at first bite!

Serving Tip

  • Sprinkle with powdered erythritol or serve with a spoonful of yogurt for an elegant touch.

This energizing, fruity twist on sobao cake brings sunshine to your plate—one slice at a time!
