These mushrooms deliver a sea-scented experience with the help of nori, garlic, and rice cakes, making them a delicious vegan main or side. The sauce is thick and flavorful, perfect for pairing with grains or crusty bread.

  • Garlic: 1 bulb, sliced

  • Mushrooms: 1 cup, cleaned and sliced

  • White rice cakes: 200 g / 7 oz

  • Fish-flavored seasoning: 2 tablespoons

  • Cornstarch: 1 tablespoon


👨‍🍳 Instructions


  • Sauté the garlicIn a frying pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and sauté until golden brown.

  • Add mushroomsToss in the mushrooms with a pinch of salt. Lower the heat, cover, and let them cook until soft and fragrant.

  • Stir in rice cakesAdd the rice cakes and stir well. Optional: add a bit of finely chopped parsley.

  • Prepare the brothIn a separate cup, mix 1 cup of water with the fish-flavored seasoning. Pour into the pan and stir to combine.

  • Simmer and thickenLet cook for about 7 minutes. Then, mix the cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water and stir it into the pan to thicken the sauce.

  • Finish and serveTurn off the heat and serve warm.
