If you’re craving donuts but not the oil bath that usually comes with them, these Yogurt Donuts are the perfect solution. Made with soy yogurt, a bit of flour, and just a touch of plant-based margarine and coconut oil, they’re soft, warm, and satisfying — without the grease. The best part? No need for yeast or waiting around to proof the dough. Just mix, shape, cook, and coat them in a dreamy cinnamon-sugar glaze.

Pastry brush (optional)
Spoon or spatula
🧾 Ingredients
Makes approx. 6–8 small donuts
For the dough
Wheat flour: 1¾ cups (220 g)
Soy yogurt: 1 cup (240 g)
Baking powder: ½ teaspoon
For the glaze
Sugar: 3 tablespoons (35–40 g)
Cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
Margarine: ¼ cup (60 g)
Coconut oil: 2 tablespoons (30 ml)
Optional: a pinch of salt in the dough, or a few drops of vanilla extract
👨🍳 Instructions
Make the doughIn a large bowl, combine the wheat flour, soy yogurt, and baking powder. Mix with a spatula or your hands until a smooth, cohesive dough forms.
Shape the donutsLightly flour your hands and divide the dough into small portions. Roll each one into a short cylinder and join the ends to form a ring (donut shape). Flatten slightly if desired.
Prepare for the air fryerLightly brush the donuts with vegetable oil or spray with oil to help them brown. Place them in the air fryer basket, leaving a little space between each.
Air fry to golden perfectionCook at 180ºC / 350ºF for 9 minutes, or until golden and slightly puffed. (No flipping required.)
Make the glazeWhile the donuts are cooking, combine the sugar, cinnamon, margarine, and coconut oil in a bowl. Microwave for 30–40 seconds and stir until smooth and glossy.
Glaze the donutsOnce the donuts are done, place them on a plate and drizzle or dip them in the glaze while still warm. Toss to coat fully if you want a sugar-crusted effect.
Cool slightly and enjoy! These are best served warm, but they’ll stay soft for several hours if stored in a covered container.
