If you're a fan of matcha and love creamy textures, you're going to fall head over heels for this easy-to-make Matcha Cream. It’s tangy, sweet, and earthy—perfect for spreading on toast, swirling into porridge, or serving as a sophisticated dip with fresh fruit. Best of all, it’s entirely plant-based and packed with probiotics from soy yogurt.
This recipe is all about simplicity and elegance, using just four ingredients to create something truly special. The process of draining the yogurt overnight transforms its texture into a thick, luscious base reminiscent of cream cheese.
Kitchen Tools
Cheesecloth or nut milk bag
Bowl or strainer to collect liquid
Ingredients
250 ml / 8.5 fl oz unsweetened soy yogurt
1 tablespoon nut butter (almond or cashew works best)
1 tablespoon agave syrup (or maple syrup if preferred)
1 tablespoon matcha tea powder (culinary grade)
Instructions
Strain the yogurt: Place the soy yogurt into a cheesecloth or nut milk bag over a bowl. Let it drain in the refrigerator overnight (approximately 8 hours). This step removes excess liquid and results in a thick, creamy consistency similar to cream cheese.
Check consistency: In the morning, your yogurt will have thickened beautifully. Remove it from the cloth and transfer it to a mixing bowl.
Mix the flavours: Add the nut butter, agave syrup, and matcha tea powder to the strained yogurt. Stir thoroughly until you get a smooth, spreadable cream.
Chill and enjoy: Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to use.
