This recipe is ideal for busy mornings or guilt-free evening cravings—and it’s 100% plant-based.
Kitchen Tools
Hand blender or food processor
Small bowl for soaking
Ingredients
200 ml / 7 fl oz plant-based milk (almond, oat, or soy work well)
2 tablespoons chia seeds
1 tablespoon carob powder
1/2 ripe banana
1/2 cup mixed nuts (e.g., walnuts, cashews, or almonds), roughly chopped
1 teaspoon ground flax seeds
Instructions
Grind the seeds: In a grinder or using a mortar and pestle, grind the flax and chia seeds into a fine powder. This step helps with better digestion and a smoother texture.
Mix the base: In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chia and flax with the carob powder and plant-based milk. Stir well to avoid lumps.
Let it rest: Allow the mixture to sit for about 30 minutes at room temperature. This lets the chia seeds gel and gives the cream its characteristic thickness.
Finish with banana and nuts: Mash the half banana and stir it into the mixture. Add the chopped nuts and blend everything with a hand blender until smooth and creamy. For a chunkier texture, pulse lightly.
Serving Ideas
Spread it on toast with a few banana slices on top.
Use as a dip for apple wedges or crackers.
Layer it into a breakfast bowl with granola and fresh fruit.
Enjoy as a nutrient-rich, no-sugar-added dessert.
Storage
Keep refrigerated in an airtight container and consume within 3–4 days.
This Creamy Carob Banana Spread is a comforting, naturally sweet snack that proves healthy food can also be indulgent. Easy to prepare and endlessly versatile, it's a delicious way to enjoy the benefits of carob, seeds, and fruit in one simple recipe.
